Cookie policy
The cookies we use, why, and how to turn them off.
Updated Oct 18, 2026
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This page lists the ones Expert Witness Tools uses and how to control them.
Needed for sign-in
These are only set when you sign in or open a link from one of our account emails. Browsing the website does not set them.
- sb-...-auth-token keeps you signed in to the portal. It is removed when you sign out.
- sb-...-code-verifier keeps sign-in, confirmation and password reset links secure. It lasts a few minutes.
Sign-in cannot work without them, so they cannot be turned off.
Analytics
Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit, roughly where from, and on what kind of device, so we can improve the site. We do not use it for advertising.
- _ga tells visits apart. It lasts up to 2 years.
- _ga_ followed by our measurement ID keeps track of your current visit. It lasts up to 2 years.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, these are only set after you click Accept. Everywhere else they are set by default, and you can decline at any time.
Set by other services
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that our forms are filled in by a person. Cloudflare may set its own security cookies while it does this.
- Stripe hosts our checkout and billing pages and sets its own cookies there to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Your choices
- Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to accept or decline analytics cookies.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the sign-in cookies stops the portal from working.
- Install Google's opt-out add-on to stop Google Analytics on every site.
We save your analytics choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again.
